About FireWedge
First of all I'm a fireman so I have practical experience of what firefighters need and what works well.
FireWedge has been created to overcome a problem which I noticed and encountered many times in my employment as a firefighter. Entering buildings that are smoke logged or on fire requires doors be kept open whilst crews work efficiently to tackle incidents. The route into a building can have many obstacles and involve several doors. Securing these doors open often seemed to need several wedges of different sizes and I realised this was impractical.
This is when I decided to improve the standard design and come up with a better solution. The result was a dual ended wedge that remained roughly the same overall size to a standard wedge for easy carrying but would work under a larger variety of door gaps. My FireWedge received positive feedback when trialled and we are now supplying fire services in the UK.
